PAMEL PRD2U is a universal power and temperature controller for 230 V heaters. It can operate without probes as a precise 0–100% power controller or with one or two temperature probes. It offers power adjustment in 0.25% steps, MANUAL, AUTO_P and AUTO_PID modes, Pmin/Pmax limits, probe calibration and the option to end the process when temperature Ta is reached. The PRD2U version supports power up to 5.5 kW.

PAMEL • POWER AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL

PRD2U – from precise power control to automatic process control

PRD2U can be adapted to your way of working. Without probes it works as an accurate power controller. After connecting one or two probes it switches to temperature control, and the second probe can additionally end the process when the set Ta threshold is reached.

One device, three levels of automation

You can start with power control alone and add probes later. PRD2U does not force one configuration.

0

No probes

PRD2U works as a heater power controller. The user sets the desired power from 0–100%.

With one probe

Temperature T can be controlled and power can be selected automatically in AUTO_P or AUTO_PID mode.

With two probes

The second probe measures temperature Ta and can end the process after the set threshold is exceeded.

Three control methods

MANUAL

Full manual control. The user sets the power delivered to the heater. This mode can also operate without probes.

AUTO_P

Proportional control. Power is selected automatically based on the difference between the set and current temperature. System response is adjusted with the WSP parameter.

AUTO_PID

PID control. The controller automatically selects power in processes that require more stable temperature maintenance.

Functions useful in real processes

Pmin and Pmax

You can limit the minimum and maximum operating power. Pmax helps match consumption to the installation, while Pmin can stabilise the system at the set temperature.

Temperature Ta

The second probe can monitor, for example, meat in a smoker or a tank during distillation. When the threshold is reached, PRD2U stops heating and signals process completion.

Probe calibration

The user can correct probe readings with calibration parameters, allowing the measurement to be matched to actual operating conditions.

Smokers

Control of the heater, chamber temperature and product temperature using the second probe.

Distillation

Precise heating-power control, process stabilisation and the option to end operation according to temperature Ta.

Brewing and tank heating

Processes requiring repeatable control of energy delivered to resistive heaters.

Important: PRD2U is intended for controlling heating elements. The manual explicitly excludes control of inductive and lighting circuits. It is advisable to perform the first start-up with water or an empty chamber and verify the probes and power output.
