PRD2 from a Polish company PAMEL is a practical controller designed for precise control heating power and temperature. Depending on the version, the device can control receivers with power up to 4.5 kW, making it suitable for both simple home applications and more demanding technological processes.

The greatest advantage of the PRD2 is its versatility. Without connected probes, the device operates like a classic power controllerallows you to conveniently set the heating power percentage. After connecting a probe, the controller becomes a control device power and temperature, providing significantly greater control over the entire process. The PRD2 series manual clearly states that without the probes, the device operates as a power controller, and after connecting sensors, it also allows you to control the temperature.

One device – multiple operating modes

The PRD2 can be adapted to various user needs.

Without probes – acts as a power controller, ideal for applications where you simply want to control the heating power.
With one probe – enables process temperature control.
With two probes – in addition to the basic measurement, it allows the use of a second sensor as an additional safety feature or as a shutdown condition.

This solution offers great flexibility. The user can start with simple power control and later expand the system with additional probes and temperature control.

Precise power and temperature control

The PRD2 offers highly accurate control of operating parameters. The power control resolution is 0.25%, which, according to PAMEL, allows for precise adjustment of the device's operation even in more demanding applications. The power adjustment range is 0–100%, and the temperature adjustment range is 10–115°C with a resolution of 0.05°C.

In practice, this means the user can very precisely select operating parameters for a specific process, instead of relying on "feel." This is especially important where temperature stability affects the quality of the final result.

Second probe – greater control and automatic process termination

A major advantage of the device is the ability to connect a second probe. It is not only used for additional temperature measurement. It can also function as a condition that terminates the device when a pre-set alarm temperature is reached This. The PRD2U product page lists this mechanism explicitly, with examples for smoking and distillation.

This solution works well for example:

in smokingwhen the meat temperature reaches a set point, for example Ta = 80°C,
in distillationwhen the temperature in the keg or another point in the process exceeds a certain threshold, for example Ta = 90°C.

When the set temperature is exceeded, the device triggers an audible alarm. Operation resumes after pressing the middle button, and the controller operates for approximately 30-second delaygiving you time to change the settings if necessary.
