PAMEL PRD3 DUO – power and temperature controller with a separate control panel

Controller PAMEL PRD3 DUO is used to regulate the power of heating elements and control the temperature in processes requiring precise supervision. The maximum adjustable power is 5.5 kW.

Now, previous designations, such as PRD3W+ DUO, have been standardized. The controller is now known as PRD3 DUO. The designation DUO remains in the name and denotes the version with separate control panel.

The device consists of two parts: control panel and actuator module. This allows the user to mount the thin panel in a convenient location and place the actuator module separately, e.g., closer to the heaters, probes, and valves.

All power and measurement cables are routed only to the actuator module. The panel and module are connected by a thin cable, 2 m. This solution simplifies installation and allows the controller to be aesthetically integrated into the system.

Choice of phase or group control

A new feature of the PRD3 DUO controller is the ability to select the power control method:

Phase control
It allows for very smooth power regulation. It is suitable for applications requiring quick response and precise adjustment of heating power.

Group Control
Power is displayed in groups of full operating periods. This is a more relaxed control method, chosen by users who prefer different heater operating characteristics.

This function allows the user to customize the controller's operation to suit their installation, heater type, and preferences.

Manual or Automatic Power Control

Using the buttons, the user can manually adjust the power supplied to the heating circuit. The controller can also operate automatically, using the temperature-dependent power regulation function.

In distillation mode, the power can be adjusted to a single selected temperature. In smoking mode, the power can be determined based on the average temperature from selected sensors.

The current power setting is continuously displayed on the graphic LCD display.

Temperature Probe Support

The controller can continuously display a maximum of 5 temperatures:, e.g.:

• cooler,
• tank,
• head,
• column,
• second column.

In smoking mode, temperatures can be described as:

• PROBE1,
• PROBE2,
• PROBE3,
• PROBE4.

Probe names can be changed to suit your needs. The user can assign custom names up to 10 characters, allowing the on-screen description to be tailored to a specific installation.

The controller has probe connectors: RJ45.

Control of valves and additional devices

Controller PRD3 DUO can control up to three independent devices:, e.g.:

• ARC valve,
• water valve,
• distillate valve,
• fog generator,
• fan,
• other auxiliary device.

The number of probes, outputs, and other configurations are available as options upon purchase.

Temperature Graphs and Process Monitoring

An additional advantage of the controller is the ability to display temperature-versus-time graphs. This makes it easier to observe the process and allows you to quickly notice temperature changes.

The controller constantly monitors temperatures, even when changing settings. Audible alarms and a heater shutdown temperature can also be configured.

Operating Modes

Controller PRD3 DUO It can be used for both distillationand smoking. Operating modes can be switched depending on the user's needs.

Smoking mode offers three operating stages, with the ability to set different times and temperatures.
