MODRF – wireless communication between PAMEL devices

MODRF is a proprietary communication module from PAMEL, designed for wireless data exchange between compatible devices. It was designed for users who require a simple, reliable, and independent method of remotely reading operating parameters a simple, reliable and independent method of remote reading of operating parameters, without the need for Wi-Fi, mobile apps, or solutions based on external servers.

The module has small dimensions 70 × 20 × 20 mm and connects directly to the RJ45 socket on the device. To activate communication, simply use one module at each end of the connection, and then set the transmitting device as MASTERand the receiving device as SLAVE.

Example Applications

One application of the MODRF module is cooperation with thermometers TERMO4 TOUCH.
For example:

• one thermometer can work as the main device,
• the second thermometer can act as a remote receiving panel,

allowing the user to remotely view:

• temperatures,
• alarms,
• current operating status.

Another application is cooperation with devices:

• PRM,
• PRD3,
• PRW,
• PPOWER.

In such configurations, the receiver can be an appropriately selected, compatible PAMEL device designed to work with a given controller.

MODRF was created for users who want remote viewingbut do not want to rely on Wi-Fi and a phone for system operation. This solution has several very important practical advantages:

• it works independently of the router and home network,
• it does not require internet access,
• it does not require a phone or app,
• it does not interrupt operation due to a discharged smartphone,
• it does not lose functionality where there is poor Wi-Fi coverage, e.g., on an allotment, on a farm, in a workshop, or near a smokehouse located farther from the building,
• it is not dependent on an external server, which may eventually be shut down or no longer be supported.

communication operates locally, without intermediaries, without the cloud, and without dependence on external services..

MODRF aims to achieve precisely this.

Operating Range

In open space, the transmission range can be approximately 400 m, however, in practical applications, a safe value of approximately 100 m.
should be used. This allows for comfortable operation at home, in a workshop, on a farm, on a property, or in an allotment.

The module operates in a different band than Wi-Fi, so:

• it does not burden the home wireless network,
• it does not cause interference with the Wi-Fi network,
• it can operate in parallel with other wireless devices.

Additionally, transmission occurs every few dozen seconds, which reduces unnecessary radio emissions and supports the rational use of wireless communications.

Quick installation and start-up

Starting the system is very simple:

1. connect one module MODRF to port RJ45 on each device,
2. set the transmitting device as MASTER,
3. set the receiving device as SLAVE.

That's all.
No additional communication cables, no computer network configuration, and no complicated installation.

MODRF is a bidirectional module, so the modem itself does not require distinction between MASTER and SLAVE. These settings apply only to the cooperating controllers. To achieve full radio communication, two modems should be used – one for each device. In controllers equipped with an RF port, the module connects directly. If the device is older or does not have an RF port, this installation is free of charge when purchasing a modem kit.
